Overview
Ten days, one road and almost every landscape Iceland has. We travel clockwise from Reykjavik, staying in country guesthouses so the big sights are yours early and late, when the day-trippers have gone.
Walks are 1 to 3 hours. Bring a swimsuit: there is a hot pool on most days.
Day by day
Day 1: Reykjavik
Welcome dinner in the old harbor.
Days 2 to 3: Snaefellsnes and the north
Lava fields, fishing villages and whale watching from Husavik.
Day 4: Lake Myvatn
Craters, steam vents and the nature baths.
Days 5 to 6: East Fjords
Quiet roads, reindeer country and puffin cliffs.
Day 7: Glacier lagoon
Jokulsarlon by boat and a guided glacier walk.
Days 8 to 9: South coast
Black sand beaches, Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss.
Day 10: Depart
Golden Circle stops on the way to the airport.
