Japan has no bad month, only different ones. Here is how the year looks from the ground.
March to May
Cherry blossom moves north from late March. It is beautiful and busy. Book six months ahead and stay flexible on dates.
June to August
Rainy season, then real heat. Head to Hokkaido or the Japan Alps, where summer is green and cool.
September to November
Our favorite. Warm days, clear skies and autumn color that lasts longer than the blossom.
December to February
Snow monkeys, empty temples and the best skiing in Asia. Kyoto in January is a secret worth keeping.
